AREQUIPA (VOLCANIC ROCK QUARRIES / CITY TOUR/ COLCA/ PUNO)

DAY 1. Our day will begin at 7am with a visit of the volcanic rock quarries, where we will get a unique perspective on the city’s monuments, as well as witness the quarriers working the stone with their bare hands. What the volcanoes left behind, man turns into art with his hands.

In the afternoon, in a 3-hour tour, we will be able to enjoy the architecture and history of Arequipa, declared a UNESCO heritage city. An absolute icon in the city is the Monastery of Santa Catalina, which is a beautifully peaceful world within itself where time seems to have stopped, then the historic center where each monument boasts an architectural beauty based on the volcanic rock of which the city is built. Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 2. Our tour begins at 7 am, passing through the Salinas National Reserve where we will be able to see vicuñas, llamas, alpacas. Then we’ll drive up to the highest point over 4910 meters, to a viewpoint over the volcanoes and part of the western mountain range, before descending to the town of Chivay 3650 meters for lunch. Optional walk in the afternoon. Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 3. After a pleasant breakfast, it’ll be time to enjoy the great landscape of pre-Inca terraces in the Colca Valley, heading towards the viewpoint of the Condor Cross to enjoy the flight of this majestic Andean bird. Then we’ll return to the town of Chivay for lunch. Free afternoon. Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 4.The next day we will head off the beaten track. The Colca Valley offers great hiking options, namely routes such as Coporaque-Uyo (7 kilometers), Canocota (8km), Chimpa (6 km). Your guide will explain the options to choose from and each one’s degree of difficulty. After lunch, you will continue your trip by bus to Puno. Overnight stay at the hotel.
