A very special trio: the coast, the mountain range and the jungle will take you on a colorful trip into rural Peru, with such diverse activities which will provide a wonderful range of emotions. “With You, Peru”, from the coast with its ancestral cultures, to the cities nestled at the foot of the snowy Andean mountains, over to the cherry on the cake: the magical Machu Picchu.

Lima – Arequipa – Majes Valley – Colca Canyon – Titicaca Lake – North Tambo Queque – Cusco – Sacred Valley of the Incas – Machu Picchu – Lima.

Transfer from Lima airport over to the your hotel in the lovely Miraflores neighborhood. Overnight stay at the hotel.

No activity is scheduled on this first day of your tour, because international flights usually arrive in the afternoon. If your flight arrives early in the morning, the Palomino Island excursion could be done on this first day.

In the morning, transfer to the Callao port, where we will embark on a boat ride to Palomino Islands, which boast a population of several thousand sea lions and a large number of seabirds (pelicans, Humboldt penguins). You can also bathe among the sea lions if you wish to do so (with a special bathing suit because the Pacific water is cold in Peru), undoubtedly an unforgettable experience. Return to the port in the early afternoon, then transfer back to your hotel. 

Night in Miraflores. 

In the morning, flight to Arequipa where we will start by checking into your hotel. Nicknamed the white city, Arequipa is the second city of Peru; a colonial city of medium altitude which enjoys a sunny climate almost all year round.  In the afternoon we will be able to enjoy a guided tour, starting atthe “Mirador de Carmen Alto” with its viewpoint over the nearby volcanoes. We will then wander through the colonial neighborhood of Yanahuara. In the center, we will visit the Santa Catalina convent, one of the most beautiful and religious buildings in Peru. 

Overnight stay at the hotel.

Departure in the morning to the valley of Majes. On the way we will discover the unusual desert landscapes of the coast of Peru and its oasis valleys. After about 2,5 hours of travel, the desert plain suddenly opens onto the immense valley of Majes, with a depth of about 1000 meters. Visit the archaeological site of Toro Muerto, where thousands of pre-Hispanicfigures were carved in stone. Lunch. 

In the afternoon, we will have different activities to choose from, such as a walk in the valley, by mountain bike or on horseback. An excellent way to discover the rural life of this valley off the beaten track. In the evening, we will have dinner in a pleasant and comfortable rural house.

In the morning, we will visit the paleontological site of the dinosaur footprints (Querullpa) as well as local a winery where pisco, the national alcohol of Peru, is distilled. Lunch in a typical restaurant of the Valley. Return to Arequipa by the end of the day. 

Overnight stay at the hotel. 

What could be more pleasant on an overseas tour than to discover the local cuisine, and better still, to learn how to prepare its most emblematic dishes? In the Casa de Ávila facilities, we will learn how to prepare two delicious Peruvian dishes:  “causa” and “lomo saltado” (sautéed loin). You will then of course get to enjoy the dishes you have just prepared. 

Free afternoon to take advantage of the charm of Arequipa. 

Overnight stay at the hotel. 

Departure in the morning to visit the Petra Arequipeña located north of the city.  A fascinating demonstration awaits, where the stonemason will work the volcanic tuff that is still used for construction. A unique and unmissable landscape.

Transfer and overnight stay at your hotel. 

Note: If you’re in the mood for some adventure, you could also do some rafting in the afternoon.

Morning departure by tourist bus between 7:30 and 8:00 for the Colca Canyon. We will make stops along the way to observe the fauna of the altiplano, with its unique habitat at 4000 meters: llamas, vicuñas and alpacas, to name just a few. We will then drive through the highest point of Monte Blanco at 4900 meters, before descending again into the Colca valley. We will arrive at the village of Coporaque, where you will be introduced to your host family who will welcome you into their home. After lunch, your family will show you around the village and its surroundings, and offer different activities for the afternoon. 

Dinner and night at the family’s home.

Early morning departure by vehicle along a road offering some magnificent views over the Colca valley, which progressively hollows until it becomes a 1000-meter deep canyon. It is here that we will be able to observe the condors that nest in the cliffs, and fly over the valley in the morning, to every tourist’s delight! 

In the afternoon, we will continue your crossing of the Andean plateauup to the city of Puno where we will arrive at the end of the day. Puno is located at the edge of the immense lake Titicaca, which extends between Peru and Bolivia. It sits at an altitude of 3800 meters, and is the highest city on your Peruvian tour. 

Overnight stay at the hotel in Puno.

Today, we will cross a large part of the immense Lake Titicaca, and will enjoy a truly local and rural experience with a host family. In the morning, transfer from you hotel to the port and departure by boat across Lake Titicaca. After a visit of the Uros floating islands, we will continue your crossing of the lake until you reach the island of Amantani. Your host family will welcome you into their home before providing lunch, and then we will have the chance to climb up to the ruins at the top of the island: a perfect sunset viewpoint. 

Dinner and night at the host family’s home (basic accommodation, no running water).

In the morning we will return to your boat to reach the island of Taquile, where the locals still live according to customs and ancestral community laws typical of Andean Peru. We will walk up to the village, located at the top of the island, from which we will be able to admire the splendid panorama over Lake Titicaca and over the royal mountain range in Bolivia. In the afternoon, we will walk back down the 540 steps over to the port and cross the lake back to Puno, where we will arrive in the afternoon. Transfer and overnight stay at the hotel in Puno.

Departure in the morning by private vehicle through the landscapes of the Peruvian highlands. If you wish to do so, we could make a hakf-hour stop to visit the archaeological site of the funerary towers or “chullpas” of Sillustani along the way. 

Check into North Tambo Queque, a traditional “hacienda” (ranch) located on the plateau at 4100 meters of altitude, at the foot of Nevado Kunurana. We will be able to take full advantage of the afternoon to visit the cattle ranch, the cheese production of the hacienda, and to stroll around the nearby nature. It is also possible to take a horseback ride, at an extra cost (to be paid at the farm). Dinner and night at the ranch (basic accommodation, shared bathroom).

Departure in the morning by private vehicle to Cusco. We will pass through La Raya at 4375 meters, which marks the end of the highlands and the beginning of the Vilcanota valley, where the Inca civilization developed. Lunch. Possibility of making stops along the trip, particularly to visit the Inca temple of Raqchi and the village of Andahuaylillas with its amazing church. Arrival in Cusco, capital of the Inca empire in the afternoon. Transfer and overnight stay at the hotel, located in the historical heart of the city.

Morning dedicated to the discovery of the Inca ruins that dominate Cusco. Transfer by private vehicle to the Inca archaeological site of Tambomachay. After visiting the site, we will begin your hike through the Cusco countryside over to the Inca sites of Puka Pukara and Kenko, before ending u in Sacsayhuaman, an impressive Inca fortress made with huge blocks of stone arranged with baffling precision. We will then return to Cusco on foot through its small steep streets. This hike represents a relatively easy 6-kilometer downhill hike. It is a rather original and pleasant way to visit the 4 Inca ruins around Cusco. Lunch.

The afternoon, we have an ppointment at the Cocoa and Chocolate Museum located in the center of Cusco, where we will learn how to make your own chocolate bar using local cocoa. 

Overnight stay at the hotel.

Your tour will continue with a day outdoors, as we will visit two of the most interesting sites of the Sacred Valley. In the morning, we will depart in a private vehicle with your guide to the Moray Inca terraces. We will then continue on to the Maras salt mine, an unexpected landscape of thousands of salt ponds, where the salt has been extracted by hand since pre-Columbian times. From there, we will descend towards the town of Pichingoto crossing the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley. 

Lunch and night in Ollantaytambo.

Easy hike (about a 3-hour walk), mostly downhill and flat.

Very early in the morning, we will take the train along the Urubamba River to the town of Machu Picchu (or Aguas Calientes, its old name). From there, we will take the bus to Machu Picchu itself. The jewel of the Incas is certainly the highlight of any trip to Peru and deserves its reputation as a wonder of the world. You will then finally discover this gem accompanied by a local guide, who will reveal the different facets of this splendid site. Lunch followed by your return train journey in the afternoon back to the Sacred Valley. 

Overnight stay in Ollantaytambo.

Your trip to Peru is gradually coming to an end, but you still have some extraordinary places left to discover. In the morning, we will visit the impressive Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo and its temple of the sun. We will then return to take our vehicle through the Sacred Valley to Pisac, a typical village with its famous craft market bursting with gorgeous souvenirs. We will also visit the Inca city of Pisac, one of the most extensive in Peru, which dominates the valley over several hundred meters. Lunch. Return to Cusco at the end of the day and overnight stay at the hotel.

Early in the morning, we will make our way over to Lake Humantay which is surrounded by imposing glaciers that are part of the Andes Mountains. Among these, the majestic Nevado Salkantay and Humantay, which give rise to the splendid Lake Humantay, which will transform your way of seeing nature, with its stunningly photogenic flaura and fauna. Picnic. Return to the hotel in Cusco. 

Last day of your trip, free day to take advantage of Cusco’s charm and say goodbye to Peru.

Departure from Cusco to the airport to reach the capital and begin our visit of the City of Kings with its “Plaza de Armas”, the catacombs of San Francisco and its interesting Larco museum. 

Lunch and night at the hotel.

Transfer to Lima airport and end of your “With You, Peru” tour. Connection with your international flight. If your international flight leaves in the morning, we would have to add an extra night in Lima.
