PARON LAGOON – FULL DAY

•  Duration: 1 day

Starting from Huaraz, we will cross the north of the Santa River valley, located between the Cordillera Blanca and the Cordillera Negra, the home of picturesque towns and cities such as Carhuaz, Mancos and Yungay, which was destroyed by an avalanche in 1970. We will have a chance to appreciate the most important snow-capped mountains of the Cordillera Blanca such as Huascarán (6,768 m.a.s.l.), Huandoy (6,356 m.) and Hualcan (6,162 m.). Then we’ll continue over to the town of Caraz (2,256 m.a.s.l.), from where we will ascend the Cordillera Blanca to enter the Parón ravine, protected by the “Parque Nacional Huascarán”, where the beautiful Parón lagoon (4,185 m.a.s.l.) is located, the biggest of the Cordillera Blanca. We will get to enjoy a spectacular panorama of its turquoise waters where the image of the south-west face of the snowy Pyramid of Gracilazo is reflected (5,885 m).) and is surrounded by an impressive glacial circus of beautiful and high mountains, highlighting the snowy Huandoy and Pyramid of Gracilazo and Artesonraju (6,025m). Along the way, you’ll have the chance to see a great variety of native high Andean plants. Refreshments. Return to Huaraz.
